I’ve spoken some version of that phrase to jewelry friends who’ve visited retail storefronts I’ve either owned, operated or simply worked at as an employee. And if there’s one thing I’ve learned in all that time, it’s this: Everyone needs help.

Some people need help selecting the perfect diamond for the person who sets their heart on fire. Others are looking for suitable holiday or celebratory gifts. Some folks are looking for something whimsical – something fun, silly and impulse-driven. And still others are uncompromisingly painstaking, content to spend a lifetime searching the world over for the unique fine jewelry piece that speaks to them, and says: “One day I will be worthy of passing along as a family heirloom.”

The one constant in all those scenarios: Everyone needs help.

My passion as a jewelry professional with nearly four decades of experience – and especially in everyday life as a mom, wife and friend – stems from one simple truth: I care about people. I’ve never had jewelry clients. Or customers. Or visitors. I’ve always had friends. I’ve always had family.

And that’s the foundation upon which Woodward Jewelers now stands.

I have no interest in being the biggest or swankiest jeweler you will ever visit. I care more about being the jeweler you trust, the one you can rely on. And the one you can call a friend.

Will I save money in the process? TONS! But friendships are not built on cost savings. Like exquisite fine jewelry pieces, they’re handcrafted one meticulous step at a time. The strongest friendships, much like the finest jewelry, combine materials meant to last a lifetime with dedication that’s been hand-hewn over the course of a lifetime.

At Woodward Jewelers, I have (and protect!) one simple secret: I care more about being your friend than I do about selling you jewelry. That’s what’s made me successful during nearly four decades in an ultra-competitive jewelry industry where I’ve worked in wholesale, retail and manufacturing. Has my “friendly” business model cost me money or market share over time? Maybe. And if so, then so be it. But at least I’m being honest: To you. To my family. And to myself. For me, there is no bigger reward.
